The race is on. The Malagasy Boules Sports Federation (FSBM) has announced the launch of a detection campaign to form the triplette team that will represent Madagascar at the Pétanque World Championships, scheduled to take place from November 20 to 24 in Thailand. The selection is open to players who have performed well this year.
In a statement released by the Federation this Tuesday, about thirty players have been summoned for a training camp to be held from October 10 to 14. The list includes precision shooting world champion Jean François Rakotondrainibe and mixed doubles world champion Lova Rakotoarisoa.
World triplette vice-champions Faratiana Rakotoniaina, Christian Andriantseheno, and Faly Donald Andrianantenaina are also among those competing for the four spots at the World Championships. This also applies to Faralahy Joseph Urbain “Baloty” Ramanantiaray, world vice-champion in singles, and Yves Cedric Rakotoarisoa, last year’s La Marseillaise champion, who is currently participating in the Pétanque Masters with the Etoiles du Sud team alongside “Zigle”.
This gathering is open to players who have represented Madagascar internationally this year, including gold medalists at the Zone 4 African Championships or representatives at summer tournaments in Europe.
The FSBM is expanding its search to include 2025 Madagascar triplette champions, 2026 champions and vice-champions, winners of the Madagascar Cup, 2026 doublette and singles champions and vice-champions, 2026 League Trophy winners, and the top three in the national rankings.
Expatriate players who have not participated in domestic competitions may also apply. According to the FSBM, they must submit a request to the national technical directorate, accompanied by their performance records for 2025 and 2026.
