Consistent sources have confirmed the death of an individual who was reported injured following clashes between transporters protesting their relocation to Amoronakona and law enforcement officers. The victim was found injured and unconscious near one of the roadblocks set up by protesters on the RN7 national road at the level of Ambatofotsy.
Although rushed to the Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona Hospital, the injured person succumbed to their wounds on the way to the hospital, according to our sources. While law enforcement officials suggested the injuries were caused by stone-throwing, one of our sources stated that “only an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.” As protesters blocked traffic on this route, law enforcement stated they had to use tear gas to disperse them.
