Madagascar will be represented in Paris at the International Space Summit, which begins this Wednesday in the French capital. The delegation, led by the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, departed the country on Wednesday morning.
According to the Head of State, his presence in Paris will be an opportunity to meet with high-level European officials to discuss key topics, including the Volobe energy project and the upcoming elections in Madagascar. “There are many subjects to be addressed, whether with France, Belgium, or the European Union,” the Head of State reported before his departure from Ivato on Wednesday morning. His agenda includes potential meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, Belgian authorities, and the President of the European Commission.
“The Volobe project will inevitably be discussed there,” emphasized the Iavoloha resident. This energy project is one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives in Madagascar, aiming to construct a 120 MW hydroelectric power plant on the Ivondro River in the Atsinanana region.
Regarding the meeting with the European Union, the President of the Refoundation also mentioned discussions on “energy and various other areas of cooperation.” He recalled that the European Union is “among our main donors,” adding that “most European funds are non-repayable.” The meetings are also expected to cover the upcoming elections in Madagascar.
