Madagascar will face Nigeria on their home turf in the first match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The Barea will then host Tanzania in Morocco.
The dates and venues for the first two matches have been confirmed. Following the draw held in May, Madagascar will begin their AFCON 2027 qualification campaign away against Nigeria, the fourth-ranked team on the African continent.
In just over three weeks, the match will take place on Friday, September 25, at 8:00 PM at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
Madagascar is placed in Group L alongside Tanzania, one of the host nations, which has already qualified automatically for the final tournament. Only one ticket remains for this group, forcing the Barea to finish at the top of the standings to qualify.
Due to the lack of an approved stadium, the Malagasy Football Federation has confirmed that the home match against the Tanzanian Taifa Stars will be played at the Stade d’Honneur in Meknes, Morocco, on Tuesday, September 29, at 7:00 PM (Malagasy time).
Franco-Portuguese coach Corentin Martins is expected to submit his list of pre-selected players at least twenty days before the match. Following these fixtures, Madagascar will face Guinea-Bissau in home-and-away matches between November 9 and 17.
