ANTSIRABE – A passenger passes away in her seat

Sudden death. A 68-year-old mother passed away suddenly on Monday, August 17, aboard a public transport vehicle traveling on National Route 7, in the fokontany of Toavala, Andranomanelatra commune, Antsirabe II district.

According to the gendarmerie, the passenger, who lived in another region, was returning from a religious pilgrimage with her fellow travelers when she collapsed in her seat. Witnesses reported that she had been deeply distressed upon learning of the death of another congregant in Antsirabe earlier that day, shortly before losing consciousness.

The vehicle was forced to stop at the scene while local authorities intervened. The gendarmerie of the Andranomanelatra outpost, assisted by the mayor and a doctor, made the necessary arrangements to repatriate the body to her home region.

“The vehicle was a rental car carrying a group of Lutheran women returning from Toliara on Sunday. We cannot say this woman was very elderly; she was still robust and accustomed to walking, as she lived in a rural area,” a relative shared.
