The Fanalamanga company is currently experiencing severe governance tensions. The Director General, Koutri, is the target of maneuvers aimed at his dismissal, which his supporters claim are orchestrated by the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) and some executives close to the former management.
Tensions flared following the authorization granted to a third-party company to resume operations, a decision that met with opposition from the PCA. A Board of Directors meeting was convened with two items on the agenda: this case and the appointment of a new Director General. The recruitment process, initiated by the PCA, is being contested by supporters of the current DG, who allege irregularities. The matter is currently being reviewed at the highest level.
Speaking on TVM (National Television) yesterday evening, Koutri denounced “malfeasance and mismanagement” under the previous leadership, pointing to the responsibility of certain operators in the degradation of the forest. According to the company’s second-in-command, approximately 90% of the staff now support the current management.
A union mobilization is planned for this Monday in support of Koutri, accompanied by a press release demanding the dismissal of the PCA and the suspension of the Board of Directors. Institutional support is also being mentioned.
