Following the participation of U16 2026 MVP Nirisoa Hanitriniala and Christina Rakotozafy in the women’s gathering from October 15 to 18, the next generation of Malagasy men’s basketball takes the stage in Abidjan. Wandrille Rasivindravalotry, MVP of the 2026 U16 Boys’ National Championship playing for ASCUT Atsinanana, and Tsongaina Randriamananoro, a player from AST Analamanga, are representing Madagascar at the Africa Youth Camp, held from October 21 to 24 in Côte d’Ivoire.
Accompanied by Tafika Andrianantenaina, coach of UBCM Boeny, the two young basketball players are participating in this event organized by FIBA Africa in partnership with the NBA. This camp allows them to compete against other African talents under 16 and continue their development in an international environment.
Wandrille Rasivindravalotry’s status as a national MVP brings him special attention. Rewarded for his performance during the national championship, the young ASCUT player must now confirm his potential in a more demanding environment. For Tsongaina Randriamananoro, from AST Analamanga, this continental immersion offers a showcase to highlight his qualities, measure his skills, and identify areas for improvement. Consistency, defensive intensity, game reading, and technical execution will be key factors in benefiting from this experience.
The Africa Youth Camp focuses on mastering fundamentals, developing collective skills, and discipline. The program includes practical on-court sessions and training led by FIBA and NBA specialists to strengthen the participants’ abilities. The challenge for the two Malagasy players will be to compete, learn, and turn this confrontation with other profiles into concrete gains. Some participants may also gain access to a future edition of the Basketball Without Borders program, serving as a potential gateway to further international experiences.
