In Arivonimamo, Mi’Arina Charbon Écologique is expanding its production with a machine capable of manufacturing between 7 and 10 tons of eco-friendly charcoal. The company, which employs sixteen people, is working on a formula to improve the product’s combustion and ease of use.
Its uniqueness lies in its manufacturing process. Using a carbonization furnace, the company transforms carbonizable plant materials into powder before converting them into eco-friendly charcoal. Coal dust can also be used in the manufacturing process, but carbonizable plant matter remains the primary base of the product.
The eco-friendly charcoal is then compacted using cassava as a binder. The company offers two types of products: one for livestock farmers and another for domestic cooking. It notably supplies farmers in Imerintsiatosika. For cooking, the product is suitable for boiling rice and preparing other food items.
With a production capacity of 7 to 10 tons, Mi’Arina Charbon Écologique sells its product at 1,000 ariary per kilogram. Its clients include livestock farmers as well as hotels. The company also sources its raw materials locally, thereby contributing to the economic development of the Arivonimamo region.
For Judicaël Mamitiana, a manager at this small and medium-sized enterprise, product quality remains essential for developing this sector. “Poor quality products tarnish the image of eco-friendly charcoal and eventually discourage consumers,” he emphasizes.
Present at the Fier Mada fair, the company is showcasing its expertise and presenting its eco-friendly charcoal to the public. Through this participation, Mi’Arina hopes to promote a locally produced energy alternative.
