Fake diplomas are on the rise. Since its launch in December, the ‘Fosika’ operation by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has received nearly 200 reports of fake diplomas on its platform. “Anyone can file a complaint, provided they provide evidence,” a source from the ministry stated.
This operation aims to clean up the higher education and scientific research sector and combat all forms of corruption and illegal acts. In this context, about ten universities have been suspended.
“They have received a formal notice and are strictly prohibited from operating or enrolling students,” the same source explained.
To resume their activities, these suspended universities must regularize their situation. The concerned institutions are required to submit an accreditation application.
“The file is then reviewed. We contact the person in charge if corrections are needed until a final version is reached. A field visit is then conducted, and the corresponding report is attached to the institution’s file,” our source explained.
Once this step is completed, the entire file is integrated into the platform. Each institution has its own login ID, allowing it to track the progress of its file processing in real time.
All files are then forwarded to a group of 40 experts tasked with reviewing them. The final validation will take place from September 21 to 25. The official list of accredited institutions will be published in October.
