Childhood memories, reunions, and a hall that filled up as the show progressed. Yesterday, at the CCI Ivato, Poopy and Johary shared the stage in a particularly warm atmosphere. Dressed in white, the artists revisited their repertoires before a large audience, even as attendees continued to arrive during the performance. More than just a concert, the meeting brought back a piece of the musical history of these artists.
From the moment “Mamy ny miaina” was performed by Poopy and Johary, memories resurfaced. For Poopy, this song directly recalls her first stage experiences. “I remembered my childhood with this song. Back then, when we did our first shows, all four of us were very young and we danced a lot,” she recounted. This evocation gave a special dimension to the performance, blending nostalgia with the joy of reuniting with fellow travelers.
This complicity remains at the heart of the relationship between the artists. This reunion on stage is part of a history built over more than three decades. Poopy and Johary have shared several important milestones in their musical journey, notably with “Andao Andihy,” Poopy’s first solo studio album released in 1991, which testifies to an important period of their collaboration.
The presence of Njila is also part of this history. An important composer for his group, he had already worked with the artists gathered for this show. Over the years, their paths have converged to allow for this new encounter.
With their respective musicians and a succession of songs known to the public, Poopy and Johary revived a part of their shared history. Between the memories evoked by Poopy, the complicity highlighted by Gothlieb, and the songs sung by the audience, the evening served as a reminder that some music continues to transcend generations.
