Two in one. Seychelles is hosting two regional competitions from July 1st to 5th at the Paradise Arena Sports Complex in Roche Caïman. The first tournament, held on July 1st and 2nd, serves as a qualifier for the African Cup. Four countries are represented in the men’s category: Seychelles, Madagascar, Comoros, and Mauritius. Three teams are competing in the women’s category: Seychelles, Madagascar, and Mauritius.
The Great Island will be represented by the winners of the first leg of the Madagascar Cup at Tanàna Soa in Ambohimanga Rova, brothers Waltinio and Julio Andriafaramanana. In the women’s category, regulars to such regional tournaments, Holiarisoa Andriamihasoa Ravonintseheno and Yannick Joëlle Harinirina Andrianirina, will defend the national colors. The winning teams in both boys’ and girls’ categories will represent Zone 7 at the African Cup.
The second competition will be the first leg of the CAVB Zone 7 Cup, which runs from July 3rd to 5th at the same Paradise Arena. Madagascar will also be represented by two teams at the Zone 7 Round I tournament. The men’s team is formed by Bradley Michel Andrianjafy and Robsell Thierry Antonio, and the women’s team consists of two expatriates playing in Seychelles: Mélissa Rambony and Alfred Rose de Lima. The competition will be played in a round-robin format, where everyone plays against everyone else.
