The price of super fuel at the pump has increased. Starting this Saturday, the price of super fuel will rise to 5,300 ariary per liter, an increase of 200 ariary compared to the price in recent months. Meanwhile, the prices for diesel and kerosene remain at 4,860 ariary and 3,710 ariary, respectively.
This marks the first price hike recorded since the adoption of the decree restoring the automatic fuel price adjustment mechanism in July 2026. Furthermore, the decree regarding the state of energy emergency adopted in August has not been renewed.
The automatic fuel price adjustment mechanism was suspended following the Executive’s decision to declare a state of energy emergency in April 2026. Although a uniform price increase of 200 ariary occurred in May, authorities at the time described it as a “one-off administrative decision” rather than a hike linked to the automatic adjustment mechanism.
