eFootball Console: Rayan and Roberto Aim for the World Summit

Two gamers from the Great Island have confirmed their supremacy on the continental stage. The duo, 26-year-old Mamitiana Ralainaivo, alias JZ Rayan, and 26-year-old Tianasoa Rakotoarisoa, known as Roberto SK, have won the African eFootball console championship title, marking the fourth such victory for Madagascar.

These ‘Barea’ of eFootball have qualified to represent not only Madagascar but the entire African continent at the discipline’s World Cup. The video game world championships will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from October 15 to 25. Twelve countries will compete in this final phase of the World Cup. Madagascar and Morocco will defend the colors of the African zone, Peru and Brazil for South America, Mexico for North America, and Indonesia, Japan, and Jordan for Asia. The three representatives from the European zone are yet to be determined.

A professional gamer and YAS ambassador since 2024, Rayan had previously won the African title in the 1v1 category. Madagascar thus secured its first continental crown in the 2v2 category by defeating Morocco, the host country of the FIFA eContinental Championships, two rounds to one.

As a major partner of the Barea and the Barea eFoot team, YAS rewarded the champions yesterday with a check for 1 million Ariary each. ‘Our goal is to take Madagascar as high as possible,’ Roberto declared. With nearly twenty years of passion for video games, these gamers play and train for hours every day. Rayan even competes in three to four online or in-person tournaments per week.
