Armed robbery. A butcher was targeted early yesterday morning in Anosizato Andrefana. Around 4:30 a.m., three armed individuals robbed him of 20 million ariary before firing three shots, according to witness accounts.
The victim was injured, but his life is reportedly not in danger. According to an officer, the gendarmes, who were away from their post at the time of the incident while on patrol at the Ambanimaso market, have information that could help them identify and arrest the perpetrators. However, he did not wish to provide further details.
This robbery has reignited concerns in the neighborhood, which was already marked by a similar attack last April. At that time, four men had entered a house in Ankazotoho, in the same commune, and threatened the occupants with homemade weapons. They had stolen 500,000 ariary as well as two phones. Despite the intervention of the gendarmes, the criminals managed to escape.
These two attacks have fueled the concerns of Anosizato residents, who are calling for increased patrols to prevent further acts of banditry.
