The final four teams of the Madagascar 1st Division Volleyball Championship were determined yesterday following the quarter-finals. Four teams from the Gendarmerie Nationale Volleyball (GNVB), two from Akany Sambatra Itaosy (ASI), and one each from Cosfa and Squad-X have secured their spots in the Final Four.
In the men’s category, GNVB1 defeated its third team 3-0, while GNVB2 eliminated ESVBA Itaosy 3-0 at the Mahamasina gymnasium. ASI secured their ticket by narrowly defeating Cosfa1 3-2 (19/25, 27/25, 25/21, 17/25, 15/9). Meanwhile, the second military team (Cosfa2) easily beat Mama1 3-0.
In the women’s category, GNVB1 defeated Stef’auto Atsinanana 3-0 at the Ankorondrano gymnasium. The second Betongolo team (GNVB2) eliminated Bi’as Itaosy 3-0. ASI overcame a difficult start to defeat Amvb Mandroseza 3-1 (25/27, 25/15, 25/18, 25/14), and Squad-X comfortably disposed of AVBCA Anosy 3-0.
Defending champion GNVB1 will face runner-up Squad-X in the women’s semi-finals, while ASI will take on GNVB2. In the men’s bracket, GNVB1 will play against Cosfa2, and GNVB2 will face ASI1 this Friday at the Ankorondrano gymnasium.
