Early elimination. Competing in the -80 kg Alysh category (wrestling with kimono and belt) at the 6th World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan, Mialy Henintsoa Rakotovelo was narrowly defeated by India’s Kuvenu Puro in the round of 16 yesterday.
The match was highly competitive. Despite his advantage in tackling techniques, Henintsoa could not contain his opponent’s series of throws. Henintsoa had previously defeated the Russian Uskonbaev in his first match. Twenty-four fighters competed in this category.
The second representative from the Great Island, Heriniaina Arsène Randrianasolo, competing in the -60 kg category, was eliminated in the round of 16 by the Kazakh fighter Turmakhanbet. The latter capitalized on Arsène’s hesitation during each restart. Eleven competitors were entered in this category. Traditionally focused on freestyle, Greco-Roman, or beach wrestling, the country’s wrestlers require further training and preparation in this belt-wrestling style to achieve better results in the future.
