ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Young people encouraged to pursue their projects

The ‘Carrefour des entrepreneurs’ (Entrepreneurs’ Crossroads), a weekly gathering held at the Score premises in Toliara, was highly dynamic last Thursday. The event takes place in a restaurant that serves as a hub for both current and aspiring entrepreneurs, fostering networking over brunch and grilled dishes. The session focused on the lifecycle of a project, from the initial idea to growth. Prominent speakers explained the key stages and the journey of an entrepreneurial project. “An entrepreneurial idea starts with an opportunity that must be seized,” explained Raïssa Andrianivoniaina, a Business Developer at Miarakap and one of the guest speakers.

For a project to be viable—meaning it addresses community needs—it is best developed within incubators such as the NGO Saramba Initiative, which specifically supports women in entrepreneurship. “I am planning to launch a banana chip project. It is a project that does not require significant capital. I came here today to validate my idea and gather information on how to execute it,” explains José, a young management student at the University of Toliara. “I intend to start an online sales business selling goods sourced from Antananarivo. How can I obtain funding for this project? I received some answers, but I am not yet fully satisfied,” shared Nambintsoa, a fourth-year management student.

“Competition no longer exists when it comes to raising the level of entrepreneurship in Toliara. We work closely with incubators, as well as technical and financial partners, and we leverage our existing networks to empower young people in their initiatives,” summarizes Dina Razafiniarivo, coordinator of the Indian Ocean Women’s Entrepreneurship (EFOI), Toliara branch.
