INFRASTRUCTURES – Demolition operations begin in Anosizato as part of the Flyover project

The clearing of the site for the future Flyover has entered its operational phase in Anosizato. Demolition of houses located in the areas affected by the project began following the start of compensation payments on August 5. Affected households have been given a one-month deadline to vacate the premises and salvage reusable materials from their homes, such as doors, bricks, and iron.

“Payments began on August 5, and a one-month period has been granted to the affected individuals to demolish their homes,” explained Andriamirantosoa Rasolondraibe, the Flyover project manager. “The goal is to allow them to recover whatever can still be salvaged,” he added.

A total of 215 households must vacate their homes located within the construction zone. Demolitions are being carried out progressively before construction companies take over to continue site clearing and development once the deadline expires.

The compensation process is also nearing completion. “Currently, the State is finalizing the payment of compensations,” stated the Minister of Public Works, Sambilason Richard Rafefimanana.

In parallel, preparatory work is already underway in Anosizato, including the development of access routes for construction machinery and equipment. The project involves the construction of two new bridges, with infrastructure designed to accommodate four lanes.

Traffic is expected to be maintained throughout the duration of the construction. The Ministry of Public Works has planned safety and traffic management measures to organize movement around the intervention zone and minimize disruptions for road users.
