Several regions have been placed on high alert for heavy rainfall. An atmospheric disturbance is causing intense precipitation over the Central-West and the southern part of the Highlands. According to meteorological forecasts, rainfall accumulations of 30 to 60 mm are expected within 24 hours in these areas. Hail is also expected at higher altitudes and near mountainous terrain this Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, 2026.
This severe weather could disrupt daily activities and cause water stagnation in flood-prone areas, as well as rising river levels, landslides, and road closures in the most vulnerable sectors.
In response to this situation, a red alert has been issued for the districts of Miandrivazo, Mahabo, and Tsiroanomandidy, as well as the Itasy, Vakinankaratra, and Amoron’i Mania regions. A yellow alert is in effect for the Matsiatra Ambony and Ihorombe regions, as well as the districts of Betroka, Benenitra, Ankazoabo, Sakaraha, and Beroroha. Météo Madagascar urges the population to exercise the utmost caution.
