PARLIAMENT – Parliamentary inquiry commission on Jirama officially begins its work this Tuesday

From words to action, nine months later. The National Assembly is launching the work of the parliamentary inquiry commission dedicated to Jirama this Tuesday. This inquiry is the first of six investigations planned by the Lower House since its change of leadership in October 2025.

According to the President of the National Assembly, Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, this initiative is part of the Parliament’s mission to oversee the actions of the Government and public enterprises. “The work will be conducted with complete independence, caution, and in compliance with the Constitution and applicable laws,” he assured.

As Jirama is a public enterprise, “it is fair and legitimate for the Malagasy people to know the truth about its management, the difficulties it is facing, the use of public funds, as well as the causes of the failures observed in water and electricity supply,” the President of the Lower House continued, explaining the approach. On his Facebook page, he specified that this is “by no means a witch hunt.” For him, the goal is only to establish the facts, strengthen transparency, ensure accountability, and formulate proposals for sustainable solutions in the interest of the Nation.
