LITERATURE – Sandra-kanto comes to life on stage

The Faribolana Sandratra association will breathe new life into the texts from the collection ‘Sandra-kanto’ through ‘Tsangan-tononkalo’, a show blending poetry and theater, to be presented this Saturday at the Centre Germano-Malagasy (CGM) in Analakely. True to its mission of promoting Malagasy literature, the circle of poets and writers invites the public to discover a new way of appreciating poetry by moving it from the pages of a book to the stage.

During this performance, several poems from the collective collection ‘Sandra-kanto’, recently published by Faribolana Sandratra, will be interpreted by the association’s theater section. The texts will be brought to life through the voices and acting of the performers, with staging designed to reveal their full intensity. This artistic adaptation aims to give a new dimension to the works by infusing them with movement, emotion, and stage presence.

Combining poetic reading and theatrical creation, ‘Tsangan-tononkalo’ offers an immersion into a universe where words take shape and address the audience directly. By moving from the written medium to the stage, the poems reveal another facet of their richness, allowing the full power of the images, emotions, and sounds within them to be expressed. The show thus offers a unique way to rediscover the texts of ‘Sandra-kanto’ while bringing poetry closer to the spectators.

Through this creation, Faribolana Sandratra continues its commitment to promoting Malagasy literature. By combining writing, theatrical interpretation, and live performance, the association builds bridges between artistic disciplines to reach a wider audience and demonstrate that poetry is not limited to silent reading, but can also be fully embodied on stage.

Finally, this initiative reflects Faribolana Sandratra’s desire to explore new forms of cultural mediation, where literature dialogues with the performing arts. With ‘Tsangan-tononkalo’, the poems of ‘Sandra-kanto’ leave the pages to meet the eyes, voices, and emotions of the public in an artistic experience that is both sensitive and vibrant.
