Around thirty associations and partners are expected in Analakely on October 16th for the 15th edition of the French Volunteer Day (JVF). The event will highlight the actions of international volunteers and their contribution to sustainable development in Madagascar.
The Analakely square will host an associative village from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. About thirty stands will allow the public to discover initiatives led by associations, host structures, and their volunteers. Discussions will focus on actions carried out in the fields of education, health, environment, social inclusion, and local development.
The program includes an official ceremony, an awards presentation, the signing of partnership agreements, and a round table dedicated to the volunteers’ contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). An exhibition of volunteer portraits as well as artistic and cultural performances will round out the day.
Ahead of the event, two competitions are being organized. The first focuses on small solidarity projects carried out by volunteers to meet the needs of the territories where they work. The second is a slam poetry contest for young people involved with local partner structures. The finals will be held on October 14th, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Catholic University of Madagascar in Ambatoroka. The winners will be rewarded during the official ceremony on October 16th.
Through this day, France Volontaires Madagascar aims to promote civic engagement and international solidarity, while fostering meetings between volunteers, associations, institutions, and partners committed to development.
