TRANSPORT – An additional trip for the urban train

The Soarano-Ambohimanambola urban train is stepping up its service. The Urban Transport Company (SETU) has strengthened its offering by scheduling a third daily trip since June 24. “To better serve you, SETU provides you with regular schedules between Soarano and Ambohimanambola,” the operator stated.

The service has thus increased to three round trips per day from Monday to Friday, up from the two previously offered since its launch in December 2025. The first departure from Soarano takes place at 05:30 AM, followed by another at 01:00 PM, with the final departure scheduled at 05:30 PM. Travelers can board at Ambohimanambola at 06:30 AM, 02:00 PM, and 06:30 PM for the return to the city center.

On Saturdays, schedules are adapted to suit outings, markets, and family travel, with departures scheduled throughout the day. From Soarano to Ambohimanambola, trains depart at 08:30 AM, 11:30 AM, and 04:00 PM. Return trips are provided at 09:45 AM, 12:45 PM, and 05:15 PM.

This service expansion coincides with the commissioning of the Amoron’Akona bus station. As part of the inauguration of this infrastructure, the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology had announced an increase in rail rotations to facilitate the transfer of passengers to this new bus terminal. This urban train has a stop at Amoron’Akona. It also passes through seven other stations, including Soarano, Ampefiloha, Anosibe (which remains closed for the time being), Soanierana, Androndra, Mandroseza, and Ambohimanambola. The transport ticket costs 3,000 ariary.
