Approval is in sight. The Akamasoa movement, founded by Father Pedro Opeka, will soon see its agricultural technical high school become operational in Antolojanahary, in the commune of Andranovelona, on the road to Ankazobe. Its partnership with the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training (METFP) will facilitate the opening of this institution, where civil servant teachers will be assigned.
The signing of the agreement took place this Wednesday in Andralanitra. It provides for the support of the Akamasoa Antolojanahary Agricultural Technical High School (LTAAA) toward its official accreditation. In addition, it aims to improve training offerings and adapt curricula to the needs of the labor market, as well as the assignment of civil servant teachers. According to the Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Todisoa Manampy Andriamampandry, the goal is to “enable young people to enter the workforce and create jobs themselves.”
The LTAAA building already exists in Antolojanahary. The institution will specialize in agriculture and livestock farming. It will be open to everyone, especially young people in precarious situations. The high school aims to train the technicians and agronomists that Madagascar needs. According to Father Pedro Opeka, the LTAAA will contribute to training the essential skills for the country’s development by strengthening agricultural production and promoting the professional integration of young people. It will be able to accommodate between 600 and 1,500 students.
Akamasoa currently has approximately 21,000 students enrolled in its institutions, from nursery schools to university. For the movement, which is recognized as a public utility, “education is the true foundation of all development, hence its involvement in making it accessible to children and young people, including those who are vulnerable.”
