An all-Analamanga final. The matchups for the Madagascar first division volleyball championship will be identical to the previous edition. In the women’s category, Squad-X will attempt to seek revenge against the Gendarmerie Nationale Volleyball (GNVB), while the men’s final will be an all-gendarme affair.
Undefeated until the final, Squad-X, the national vice-champion, secured a 3-0 victory (25/22, 25/23, 25/12) against GNVB2 yesterday at the Ankorondrano gymnasium. GNVB1, the defending champion and winner of the last three seasons, defeated the first team of Akany Sambatra Itaosy (ASI) 3-0 (25/22, 25/23, 25/11).
In the men’s category, GNVB2 eliminated ASI1 in the semi-finals with a 3-0 score (25/20, 25/14, 28/26). The first team from Betongolo, the defending champion, outclassed the military team COSFA 3-0 (25/16, 25/22, 25/16).
The gendarmes have achieved a double in the last three seasons, sweeping both the men’s and women’s titles. GNVB aims to add two more crowns to its record this time. The finals, especially the women’s match, are highly anticipated this afternoon at the Ankorondrano gymnasium.
