Madagascar will be represented by three female judokas at the Senior World Judo Championships. The competition is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from October 4 to 11. The athletes are Natacha Razafindrakalo, Laura Rasoanaivo—who is currently training in Kosovo—and Zo Andriambololona.
This global summit serves as a new opportunity for the three Malagasy athletes to earn valuable points in the race to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. It will also allow them to compete against the world’s elite in their respective categories.
In the under 48 kg category, Natacha Razafindrakalo will face 37 other fighters in her attempt to secure the world title. Laura Rasoanaivo, competing in the under 70 kg category, will have to face 43 opponents, eight of whom are in the world’s top 10. Meanwhile, Zo Andriambololona will compete in the under 78 kg category, where 43 judokas are registered, including the nine best in the world.
