Iaro Razanakoto, the only international Gran Turismo driver in Africa, is currently visiting Madagascar for a ten-day vacation. He has been competing in the Thailand Super Series GT3 this season.
Reflecting on the mid-season, Razanakoto noted a mix of challenges and successes, including podium finishes in Buriram and Bangsen, and a recent third-place finish in Malaysia. He currently ranks third out of sixteen countries.
Looking ahead, the pilot has four races remaining this season and remains a strong contender for the GT3 title alongside his teammate, Sandy Kraokew Stuvik. He also plans to test a 2002 Jaguar F1 car in Dubai this month to gain experience and visibility as the first African to pilot such a vehicle.
Regarding the development of young talent, Razanakoto is mentoring Juan Rakotojohary, who is expected to compete in Thailand later this year as a potential successor to become the second international Malagasy GT driver.
Finally, Razanakoto addressed the financial challenges of racing under a Malagasy license, noting that he had to revert to a Thai license for the current season to maintain his standing with his racing team, B-Quick, though he remains committed to representing his home country.
