Two tickets are at stake. Madagascar has qualified three representatives for the Esports Global Rally Tour Africa Shootout, the equivalent of the African e-rally championship. Two of them, members of the ASACM club, are based in France. They are 24-year-old Andriatiana Mathieu Rakotonaivo, who climbed to second place in the online qualifying round, and 32-year-old David Kévin Begue, who finished 62nd.
The only local driver, a member of the FMMSAM club, is the young five-time Madagascar slalom and hill climb champion, Juan Rakotojohary, alias Tovonen Jr. He ranked 123rd. In total, twelve Malagasy drivers took part in the online Rally Tour 1.
These three drivers finished in the African top 5 at the end of this first stage, which was organized in mid-May and brought together ten thousand competitors from around the world.
The Rally Tour 2 Africa Shootout, reserved for the African zone, will take place on October 29 in Gaborone, Botswana. The two best drivers at the end of this second continental stage will represent Africa at the FIA Esports Global Rally Tour world final. This will be held on December 12 in Shanghai, on the sidelines of the FIA congress and the trophy ceremony for the champions of the various motorsport categories of the season.
