Pollution and plastic waste: Madagascar faces a major environmental challenge

Madagascar generates up to 240,000 tons of plastic waste annually, 26% of which consists of low-density polyethylene (LDPE). This material is commonly found in various plastic bags, sachets, stretch films, and flexible containers such as bottles and jars used in the agri-food, cosmetic, and other industries.
