The difficulties in accessing internships, employment, and study conditions dominated the discussions between students of the University of Antananarivo and several institutional officials during a dialogue organized on Monday at the Ankatso campus, on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day. Students highlighted the lack of infrastructure and equipment in universities, the challenges in securing internships, and the obstacles faced when entering the job market after graduation.
In response, the authorities presented several measures aimed at strengthening the professional integration of young people. The Minister of Labor, Employment, and Public Service, Denis Franconio Mac, announced the deployment of the Madagascar Internship Hub (Pôle Stage de Madagascar), the implementation of career guidance programs, and free training courses available to youth across the country. He also encouraged students to undertake internships within ministries and public institutions, noting that such experiences can facilitate their access to employment.
During his speech, the Minister reiterated that the success of young people is a shared responsibility between public authorities, educational institutions, and other relevant stakeholders. He indicated that dialogues with students will continue in order to identify the difficulties related to youth employment and to develop appropriate solutions.
