Tourism professionals are expected to contribute more significantly to the design and implementation of training programs offered by universities, training centers, and higher education institutions in Madagascar that provide courses related to tourism and hospitality. This direction is among the key commitments of a framework agreement signed between the ministries in charge of Tourism and Higher Education on September 27 in Mahajanga.
The objective is to align the training provided with the skills sought in the labor market. The involvement of sector stakeholders is intended to better account for business needs in the development and evolution of training curricula.
The agreement also plans to strengthen internships and practical work experience within companies. Training institutions and tourism professionals are encouraged to further develop their ties to allow students to compare the knowledge acquired during training with real-world field conditions.
This collaboration is also expected to facilitate the professional integration of graduates. The closer relationship between training institutions and employers aims to create more pathways into tourism and hospitality professions. Finally, the partnership focuses on the recognition of diplomas, with the goal of better articulating their academic recognition with the needs and requirements of the professional world.
The framework agreement was signed by Lucie Vololoniaina Rafaralahy, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, and Professor Ndaohialy Manda-Vy Ravonimanantsoa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Prime Minister Mamitiana Rajaonarison. It concerns universities, training centers, and higher education institutions offering programs in the fields of tourism and hospitality in Madagascar. Through this partnership, the two ministries intend to improve the alignment between training, the skills of future graduates, and the labor needs of the tourism sector.
