Revealed by her “Coup de cœur” (Press Favorite) award from the Sorakanto Association of Cultural Journalists at Fanilo Voice 2026, Djivà aims to make her music an ambassador for Malagasy culture, reaching audiences well beyond national borders.
For Djivà, music is more than just vocal performance; it is a medium for conveying identity, culture, and heritage. As the winner of the “Press Favorite” award at Fanilo Voice 2026, the artist is now determined to carry the colors of Madagascar internationally.
Born Niaina Camille Rajaonarivony in Antsirabe, Djivà has been passionate about music since childhood, immersing herself in the craft from the age of two. “Music is the only field that allows me to convey messages through songs and connect with fellow music lovers,” she shares.
Fanilo Voice 2026 marked a turning point in her career, which she describes as a “genuine challenge.” Receiving the press award was a source of great pride. “The press is a major player that can help bring my work and my true self to the public,” she emphasizes. Her goal was to share her identity and highlight Malagasy culture on stage—a goal she feels she achieved given the warm reception of her performances.
This Malagasy identity is expressed in both her repertoire and her stage attire. “I am Malagasy. I live according to the heritage passed down by my ancestors. Traditions, faith, and culture hold an essential place in my daily life as well as on stage,” she asserts.
Today, Djivà sees this recognition as a stepping stone toward new projects. Alongside her band, she aims to further integrate Malagasy culture into her “Multiverse” musical style. Her ambition is to introduce her original compositions to the wider public soon.
However, the artist faces a major hurdle. Her group has secured several contracts in Reunion Island thanks to international bassist Patrick Persée, who is based there. Unfortunately, these opportunities remain inaccessible due to a lack of financial means to cover travel costs and administrative procedures.
