In response to the surge in insecurity, the Prefect of Antananarivo, Vonjy Maminjanahary Andriasy, announced yesterday a series of measures aimed at strengthening public order and protecting the population. These provisions concern security checks, nighttime movements, establishments selling alcoholic beverages, and the protection of minors.
Authorities recommend that individuals forced to travel at night prioritize moving in groups. This measure is intended to bolster personal safety in the current climate of increasing insecurity. “Anyone required to travel in the evening must carry their national identity card. For work-related travel or other necessary errands, it is advised to travel in groups,” stated the Prefect of Antananarivo, Vonjy Maminjanahary Andriasy.
Specific Measures
Security checks will also be intensified at night, both in lodging establishments and for individuals circulating after dark. Authorities strongly advise minors against going out at night, except in cases of necessity.
Surveillance operations will be stepped up both day and night. Law enforcement agencies will intensify checks in hotels, gathering places, and all locations deemed sensitive.
Vonjy Maminjanahary Andriasy, the Prefect of Police of Antananarivo, also reiterated that all establishments selling alcoholic beverages are required to close by 9:00 PM, in accordance with the current prefectural decree.
On the eve of the conclusion of the BEPC exams, parents are urged to collect their children from examination centers. Security forces have also implemented a specific deployment to ensure their protection.
Authorities invite the entire population to cooperate with state services to contribute to strengthening security and maintaining public order in all neighborhoods of the capital.
