Roland Rakotondrainibe, known as Nono, a renowned artist on the local music scene, has not performed in Madagascar for several years. Currently in the country, the artist has scheduled two meetings with his audience: September 6 at 3:00 PM at CCESCA Antanimena and September 11 at 7:00 PM at Havoria Anosy. Back in the country after this long absence, he is delighted to reconnect with his fans and offer them memorable concerts.
“His older works will be performed on these occasions, according to the public’s preferences. There will be slight differences between the two performances. We have invited young contemporary musicians to compose the music that will be performed on stage,” explains Herilaza Randriantsoa, show organizer for Event Art Culture. The artists and designers mobilized for the event are currently working hard to finalize preparations.
Nono has left his mark on several generations of Malagasy music. Among his best-known tracks are “Bedy foana,” “Io fitiavana io ihany,” and “Hoy ianao.” He began composing around 1972. At that time, the song “Mitomany” was notably inspired by an incident that happened to a friend. His last concert in the capital dates back to August 2015, at the Mahamasina Sports and Cultural Center.
