Reducing dialysis costs is in sight. Authorities hope that healthcare offerings, including treatments for kidney-related issues, will be improved through a partnership concluded by the Malagasy State with Lifenity International, an Indian company specializing in health sciences and services. The agreement signed on Friday aims to strengthen health services in the country, with priority given to the care of patients requiring dialysis. According to information provided by the presidency, between 500 and 3,000 people need this treatment in Madagascar.
The cost of dialysis remains a heavy burden for many patients on the Great Island. A session costs an average of 200,000 ariary, while a person suffering from kidney failure generally needs to undergo three sessions per week. The idea is to alleviate this financial burden by developing care offerings in the country’s six provinces to facilitate patients’ access to this essential treatment. Authorities assure that the price of dialysis will be significantly reduced thanks to this collaboration, allowing those concerned to access it more quickly and under better conditions.
The partnership signing ceremony this Friday at Ambohitsirohatra took place in the presence of the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michael Randrianirina. He stated that “access to adapted care, respectful of human dignity and meeting the needs of each individual, is a fundamental right of citizens. Malagasy people deserve to benefit from an efficient and reliable health system in their own country.” The Head of State also reaffirmed the Government’s willingness to encourage partnerships aimed at improving the quality of care in Madagascar. He called on all stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of this project so that the population can quickly benefit from its results.
