From humorous videos to a debut album, Tefi and Bob Tobias are taking their creative partnership to a new level with ‘Fibata’. In partnership with Orange Madagascar, the album is expected on September 18 and will be available in audio format on streaming platforms.
Initially, nothing suggested that Tefi and Bob would produce an album. Their journey began with a video concept designed to promote Tiakola’s concert. ‘I had the idea of writing a trendy song and immediately thought of Bob. That’s how the adventure started,’ explains Tefi.
After a performance at the opening of Smatchin, the two artists realized their potential. ‘We thought we could offer something good to the public, so why not make an album,’ he says. Titled ‘Fibata’, the project currently features seven tracks. The title refers to a Malagasy term for various objects that can be carried, as well as an old bus name. ‘The idea is as if we were all boarding the same bus, together in the ‘Fibata’, having fun,’ Tefi explains.
Musically, the album is primarily based on shatta, while incorporating afrobeat sounds. The duo seeks a balance between humor and more serious tracks. The production involves beatmakers Jonas Androx, Chrinix, Kl Yoann, and Gasykay. Collaborations with other artists may also be featured on the album, though they remain a surprise for now.
‘The love from the public drives our work. If people like it, we try to give our best,’ adds Tefi.
