The State is initiating procedures to participate in the financing of the contract for Corentin Martins, coach of the Barea, and his technical staff for 2026. Last week’s Council of Ministers validated the verbal communication regarding the coverage, by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, of expenses related to the employment and service contracts of the French technician and his assistants.
The decision formalizes the financial commitment of the Malagasy State to cover a portion of the remuneration and other allowances provided for by the contracts of the coach and his team for the 2026 fiscal year. It comes just weeks before the Barea’s return to African competitions. The Malagasy national team is set to begin qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the end of this September.
For several years, the State and the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) have jointly ensured the payment of salaries for successive coaches of the Malagasy national team. These arrangements have been continued with Corentin Martins, who extended his commitment with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the FMF at the beginning of the year, following the expiration of his previous contract. The French technician’s primary mission is to lead the Barea to the next AFCON.
