The fifth round of the Madagascar Motocross Championship, the Grand Prix of the East, took place in Toamasina on Sunday. Claudio Tida secured his first victory of the season.
This was the second official round held outside the capital. Increasingly familiar with his new 2026 Stark Varg electric motorcycle, Toamasina native Claudio Tida, who had finished second in the first four rounds, stepped up to claim victory at the Grand Prix of the East on the sandy and muddy Datsara Village circuit in Toamasina.
Claudio Tida dominated the Elite 1 category, crossing the finish line first in both heats, completing eight laps in each. Marco Preve finished second in both races, while the reigning Madagascar champion and winner of the first four rounds, Mathias Plantive, riding a Husqvarna, settled for third place.
In other categories, Darwin Ranja dominated Elite 2, while Huo Tsirava led the juniors. Herval Danny and Rija Alberto Rakotomamoianina took top honors in the Veterans 1 and 2 categories, respectively. Harena Szmurlo won the women’s category, and young talents Ethan Rajaonah, Mathyas Ramanantsoa, Djivan Ratefiarison, and Gracie Croft also secured victories in their respective classes. The sixth round is scheduled to take place outside the capital.
