VOLLEYBALL – JUBILEE – Clarisse Randrianilana decorated

The jubilee tournament celebrating 50 years of volleyball involvement for Clarisse Bakoly Harisoa Randrianilana, former national team member and former president of the Madagascar Volleyball Federation, was dominated by Gendarmerie teams. The first day on Saturday was highlighted by her decoration as a ‘Knight of the National Order’. The event was honored by the presence of the High Advisor of the Refoundation, Colonel Solofoniaina Thierry Rampanarivo.

The Gendarmerie Nationale Volleyball (GNVB) club secured three out of four trophies across different categories. GNVB won 3-0 against Cosfa in the men’s first division and defeated Star Maman in the women’s category. In the U14 category, the girls from Betongolo beat S2CT 2-0. In the veterans’ category, AS Sport dominated the military team. The event also served as a reunion for former legends and players of the sport.

Clarisse Randrianilana served as president of the federation for ten years, from 2005 to 2015. The former AS BNI and AS Aro volleyball player won gold medals at the 1985 African Games in Mauritius, the 1983 All-Africa Games in Libya, and the 2nd Indian Ocean Island Games in Mauritius in 1982.
