JUSTICE – Seven individuals arrested over suspected escape attempt by Colonel Patrick Rakotomamonjy at Tsiafahy, according to the Antananarivo Prosecutor’s Office

Seven individuals have been implicated in an investigation regarding a suspected escape attempt by Colonel Patrick Rakotomamonjy, who is currently detained at the Tsiafahy Central Prison. Their case was presented to the investigating judge on Tuesday, according to Narindra Navalona Rakotoniaina, the Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance of Antananarivo.

According to the prosecutor, a doctor described as being close to the military physician is among the suspects. He allegedly advised the detainee to consume a large quantity of sugar in order to falsify the results of his blood tests.

The investigation made significant progress following the discovery of a mobile phone in the detainee’s cell, according to the prison administration. Principal Inspector Olivier Ranaivoson, Regional Director of the Analamanga Prison Administration, reported that two plans had allegedly been prepared to facilitate the escape. The first involved setting fire to the prison, with funding sought from abroad. The second relied on the falsification of medical data.
