TSARATANÀNA – Fire reduces fifty-eight houses to ashes

A fire broke out in the Anadabo fokontany, in the rural commune of Isinko, Tsaratanàna, last Monday. Fifty-eight houses were completely destroyed by the flames, leaving 288 people from several families homeless. The origin of the disaster and the extent of the material damage have not yet been determined.

Faced with this situation, the Betsiboka Region has already taken action to support the victims. Blankets, four cartons of soap, and ten solar lamps have been distributed to them. Further aid from the State and the BNGRC is expected, including construction materials such as cement and corrugated iron sheets, to enable the affected families to rebuild their homes.

However, the delivery of this aid could prove difficult due to the isolation of Isinko. The commune is located about 80 kilometers from the RN4, and some sections of the road are particularly difficult to navigate by car. It takes several hours to reach the locality, which risks further complicating the intervention for the victims.
