Four neighbors are being held at the gendarmerie station as part of an investigation into the deaths of an elderly couple, who were found lifeless last weekend in Ankazotokana Ambatomena, in the Manjakandriana district. The couple is believed to have been victims of homicide.
Investigators are continuing their inquiries and gathering evidence. Certain elements remain confidential due to the ongoing investigation. The circumstances of the tragedy are expected to be clarified once the investigation is complete, before the case is referred to the judiciary.
Aged 76 and 80, the two deceased were teachers and composers. They lived alone. At the end of last week, their children, having received no news, tried in vain to reach them on their mobile phones. Concerned, the family, who live far away, sent someone to check on them on Saturday. The couple was then found dead in their home.
“They were each on a bed. Their bodies showed wounds suggesting signs of assault. Their deaths likely occurred the day before they were discovered. The belongings in the house were in disarray. The three men and one woman arrested in this case are neighbors. The perpetrators have not yet been clearly identified, and the investigation is ongoing,” stated a source close to the investigation.
A wake was held at a designated location in Betsizaraina Ambohimangakely, followed by the burial of the couple in the family tomb in Ankazotokana Atsimo.
