The Ady Fototra program is calling for civic engagement, with young people as its primary target. The Move On Vakinankaratra movement is where it all began.
The Ady Fototra program has been officially launched. Its goal is to carry the vision of a “Madagasikara Mahatehonina” (a self-sufficient Madagascar), where every citizen becomes an agent of change. The transformation of the country begins with the transformation of each individual, before extending to families, communities, communes, regions, and ultimately, the entire nation.
It all starts with the Move On movement, officially created in 2014, which defines itself as a citizen movement, independent of any political party, present in several countries as well as in different regions of Madagascar.
Ando, alias Jahboad, one of the initiators of the Ady Fototra program and a member of Move On, describes this mobilization as a hydra with several thinking heads.
Its new momentum, initiated in October 2025, led to the opening of the Move On Vakinankaratra branch, led by Valérie Rabemananjara in February 2026, to strengthen grassroots actions.
For the manager, “national refoundation” requires, above all, the reconstruction of civic values. The program aims to address several major challenges, including the loss of civic-mindedness, the lack of collective responsibility, difficulties in the education system, environmental fragility, and the lack of opportunities for young people.
Encouraging Results
Since March 2026, Move On Vakinankaratra has multiplied its activities in the field. Awareness sessions have been organized in schools, accompanied by civic training, leadership activities, community actions, and environmental initiatives. The movement is also preparing an Ady Fototra Festival, which will include conferences, awareness activities, and the creation of a pilot village.
According to the movement, initial results are encouraging. In just three months, requests for intervention from schools and communities have multiplied to the point where the activity calendar is already fully booked. Move On also claims to have pilot establishments bringing together more than five thousand students, as well as pilot districts and regions. To evaluate the impact of its actions, the movement is currently developing an Android application designed to collect statistical data and citizen feedback.
Among the flagship projects is the creation of an integrated agro-ecological site, designed as a model for sustainable local development. This project will combine sustainable agriculture, food autonomy, youth training, waste recycling, local product processing, environmental awareness, as well as bioenergy and digitalization solutions.
Funded mainly by voluntary contributions from its members, local support, and material partnerships, Move On asserts that it preserves its independence and remains open to international collaborations that share the same values. The movement also insists on its non-partisan nature and affirms that its interventions in schools are exclusively focused on civics, civic values, and personal development.
