A transition season. After losing several key players and suffering significant injuries, MB2ALL Analamanga managed to retain its place among the national elite in the N1A women’s league. The club finished in fourth place at the end of the final phase of the Madagascar N1A championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Palais des Sports Mahamasina. This result rewards the resilience of a team renowned for the quality of its training and its family spirit.
MB2ALL has just completed another season in N1A just off the podium. This performance takes on a new dimension considering the numerous departures and injuries that marked the season. The club had to cope with the departure of seven major players, including Muriel, Christiane, Sydonie, Hoby “Kaps,” and Anyssa, who joined other clubs. In addition, there were injuries to Nomena and Mandresy, who were seriously affected, as well as physical issues that forced Océane, Men, Chantiah, and Simonetta to play while diminished.
In this context, maintaining a spot among the country’s best teams was far from guaranteed. “Three years ago, Coach Tagg, known as Ndranto Rakotonanahary, anticipated this turning point,” the club noted. At the start of the competition, the coach logically envisioned a fifth or sixth place. His players ultimately defied the odds. Without any new recruits this season, MB2ALL reached the final four and narrowly missed the final despite the departures.
The life of MB2ALL is not limited to sporting results. The club claims a true family culture, maintained over generations. A symbol of this loyalty, Miora, whose real name is Solotiana Miora Mampionona, present since 2012, continues to embody the team’s values. The eternal captain has become a reference for young players through her commitment and attachment to the jersey.
The success of the MB2ALL training program is also measured by the paths of its former players. Many of them now shine under the colors of other N1A clubs: Copain and Rachou at GNBC, Jessica and Lalaina at JEA, Sydonie and Kaps at BC Somava, Faneva and Melanie at Varsity, Malala at Ankaratra, and Kaloina at ASSM. These various paths illustrate the role played by MB2ALL in the training and development of women’s basketball in Madagascar. “Seeing these former residents shine elsewhere constitutes another form of success,” confides Ndranto Rakotonanahary.
Beyond titles and rankings, MB2ALL is turning the page without denying its identity: to train, to transmit, and to remain competitive. The story continues.
