For travelers, this change primarily implies a new organization of their journeys, as Fasan’ny Karàna has been a familiar and easily identifiable departure point for years. A carrier noted that passengers are accustomed to the current location, and the move to Amoronakona may disrupt their habits, requiring them to familiarize themselves with the new site and transport options to reach it.
However, some travelers hope this transfer will improve conditions around the station, citing issues with pickpockets, beggars, and touts. They look forward to a cleaner environment at the new site.
Accessibility remains a major challenge. The new site must be well-served by public transport for travelers coming from various neighborhoods in Antananarivo. New bus lines are expected to be established, and the frequency of the urban train has been increased.
The transfer will not be immediate. A meeting between the Land Transport Agency (ATT) and carriers is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss technical modalities. After the fifteen-day deadline, only permits issued for Amoronakona will be recognized; those continuing operations at Fasan’ny Karàna will be considered clandestine and subject to sanctions.
The success of this relocation will largely depend on the accessibility of the new site compared to the established Fasan’ny Karàna station.
