The murder of 12-year-old Sahala Fanekena has shocked the community. On Saturday, Public Prosecutor Narindra Navalona Rakotoniaina provided further details regarding the case.
The child disappeared on June 29 while in the courtyard of her home in Ampefiloha Ambodirano. She was allegedly lured away by a woman who offered to take her to buy sandals. She was then taken to Amboanjobe, where she was killed by having her skull crushed with stones.
The prosecutor stated that the perpetrators had consulted a fortune teller who advised them to perform a human sacrifice to improve their living conditions. Following the murder, the victim’s pants were removed and thrown into a stream, in accordance with the fortune teller’s instructions.
Investigations conducted by the Fiadanana Criminal Research Section revealed that the murder was orchestrated by the charlatan. As for the other three individuals, one man is being prosecuted for complicity, while a couple carried out the crime. During the searches, investigators discovered various items related to occult practices.
