Following the third consecutive championship title for the GNBC women’s team on Sunday, head coach Eli Michael Rakotonindrina reflects on the keys to this success and shares his ambitions for the continent.
Regarding the feeling after the third consecutive title, Rakotonindrina expressed immense joy, noting that the hard work throughout the season paid off. He emphasized that winning is satisfying, but maintaining the title for three years (2024, 2025, 2026) is a source of collective pride born from dedication and sacrifice.
On the team’s preparation, he explained that the focus was on physical conditioning and shooting accuracy. He noted that defending a title is challenging because opponents are highly motivated, requiring constant discipline and focus.
When asked about the turning point, he highlighted team cohesion and solidarity as the team’s greatest strength, stating that individual talent must serve the collective goal.
Looking ahead, while acknowledging the need for further technical improvement and training, Rakotonindrina stated that the team’s next major ambition is to participate in the African Club Championship to test their level against the best teams on the continent.
