It was a busy day for the President of the Refoundation on Tuesday. During his first day in New York, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina held four audiences after attending the opening of the general debate of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. Among the figures he met was Massad Boulos, an American-Lebanese businessman who serves as the Senior Advisor for Africa to the U.S. President at the State Department.
The presidency provided no details regarding the specifics of this meeting, which took place in the late afternoon. Initially serving as Donald Trump’s senior advisor for Arab and Middle Eastern affairs, Massad Boulos was appointed Senior Advisor for Africa in April 2025. Since his appointment, he has conducted several tours across Africa, including visits to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Algeria. Notably, his son is married to Tiffany Trump, one of the American president’s daughters.
Prior to meeting Massad Boulos, the Head of State also received Dr. Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), at the premises of the Madagascar Embassy to the United Nations. The two discussed strategies for agricultural development and their financing in Madagascar.
The President of the Refoundation also held talks with Roger B. Jantio, CEO of Sterling Merchant Finance Ltd, regarding artificial intelligence, as well as with Alexander de Croo, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
As announced upon his departure from Antananarivo, the President of the Refoundation is in New York to “engage with countries with whom we must dialogue to strengthen our diplomatic position and discuss the global geopolitical situation.”
