ASSISTANCE – Itasy region receives social support

The State, through the Ministry of Population and Solidarity, is supporting vulnerable individuals in the Itasy region. Last week, 461 elderly people and 22 individuals with disabilities in the Itasy region received food and material support, including kitchen utensils and sewing machines, from the ministry. These aids were distributed directly by the Minister, Voahanginirina Cathia Rakotoniaina. The objective is to strengthen their participation in local development, ensuring they are no longer viewed as a burden on society, but as responsible actors for their own autonomy, their households, and their communities.

Furthermore, a partnership between the Ministry of Population and Solidarity and the University of Itasy provides tailored support for young people with albinism pursuing university studies. On this occasion, the public was sensitized to welcome them with dignity and avoid any stigmatization, reminding everyone that they enjoy the same rights as all citizens.

Local women’s associations also received support for their income-generating activities through the donation of sewing machines to strengthen their financial independence.

Finally, the Minister and local authorities participated in a community work session to clean the Miarinarivo market alongside residents, promoting hygiene and solidarity within the community.
