FRAUD – A basket containing BEPC exam papers goes missing

A basket containing BEPC (Brevet d’Études du Premier Cycle) exam papers has disappeared from a guarded truck, and the subjects have been replaced.

A mysterious theft occurred in Vangaindrano. Exam papers intended for the Vangaindrano School District (Cisco) have vanished. The vehicle transporting them, which was under the escort of law enforcement officers, was reportedly broken into on Tuesday morning. “Three baskets (soubiques) disappeared during this theft. Two of these baskets were found later, neatly stacked at the foot of a tree in the middle of the city, and remained intact. However, the third one remains missing. This specific package contained the test papers destined for the downtown Vangaindrano examination centers,” a source close to the case stated yesterday.

Malicious Intent

The missing basket contained exam papers for Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) and English. Authorities in the Atsimo Atsinanana region confirmed that these papers have been replaced at the national level. “Suspicions of malicious intent led to a decision to replace the missing exam papers during a meeting between the Joint Conception Organ (OMC) and the Regional Directorate of National Education (DREN) of Atsimo Atsinanana. It has been done. The new papers intended for Vangaindrano were transported by plane and arrived yesterday,” a source in Vangaindrano indicated. The Ministry of National Education did not respond to our request for confirmation at the time this article was submitted.

Investigators are still trying to understand the circumstances of this disappearance. “Preliminary observations reveal signs of tearing on the rear tarp of the heavy truck,” a source noted. But by whom? “The two employees of the Ministry of National Education and the two law enforcement officers tasked with transporting the exam papers could not see who committed the act, as it occurred during the night,” the same source added.

Was it truly a robbery or an act of sabotage? The vehicle reportedly arrived in Vangaindrano last Tuesday around 2:00 AM. It was only upon arrival that the mobilized agents realized the baskets containing the precious documents were missing. After retracing their steps to try to find them, they finally alerted the authorities at 6:30 AM.

However, officials assert that this incident will have no impact on the conduct of the BEPC exams, which are scheduled from July 6 to 9.
